We run a number of canoe expeditions in some stunning areas of Scotland, ranging from open water journeys in Assynt, Rannock Moor and crossing coast to coast through the Great Glen to river trips down the Spey and the Tay.
The journeys are usually four or five days in duration, wild camping and cooking next to the water. A shuttle service is is usually included in the price which will return you and your canoe back to the start ready for the journey home.
River Spey
Spend four days paddling and living on the Spey. Journey from Kincraig in the Cairngorms to the sea at Spey Bay near Elgin, wild camping and cooking on open fires along the way.
Brush up your river paddling skills on the first two days before the main white water challenges of the 'Washing Machine' and Knockando on day 3.
Cost for this trip includes the shuttle from Spey Bay back to the start when finished.
See Course & Trip Calendar for costs.
Assynt - A trip in the far north west, we start near the village of Elphin on Cam Loch, we paddle along Loch Veyatie and Fionn Loch before we portage over into Loch Sionasgaig and finish at Boat Bay. During the trip we have the opportunity to climb a number of mountains, such as Suilven and Cul Mor or fish for lake trout. Please note that while the paddling can be quite easy and relaxed, the portage is difficult and is very strenuous work. Different route options are available to reduce the work, so contact Martin to discuss the trip.
Rannoch Moor - Starting just north of the Bridge of Orchy, on Loch Ba, we travel NE through the stunning wilderness of Rannoch Moor, along Loch Laidon, down Garbh Ghaoir into Loch Eigheach and then onto the River Gaur and under the beautiful Bridge of Gaur into Loch Rannoch. We continue down into Loch Tummel and from there we have a choice to finish at Pitlochry or continue down the River Tay to Perth.
This trip can be tailored to suit your abilities and/or available time, therefore, the cost for this trip varies depending on where we start and finish, so, contact Martin to discuss.
The Great Glen - Paddle 95km from Corpach to Inverness in five days, along the Caledonian Canal, through Loch Lochy and Loch Ness.
Depending on the weather, the trip may run in the opposite direction, finishing with a great run down the River Lochy into Fort William.
If we are lucky and the wind is in our favour, we can raft up the canoes and sail along the lochs instead of paddling.
The River Ness could be included for the run down into Inverness, if paddlers are suitably skilled.
The cost for this trip includes a shuttle back to the start.
River Tay - Starting at Killin at the SW end of Loch Tay, we paddle, or raft up and sail if the wind is to our favour, to Kenmore where we start our river journey. Past Aberfeldy, through (or around) the grade 3 rapids at Grandtully and Stanley, then down to Perth.
This trip will take four to five days depending on conditions, where we start/finish and the pace we set ourselves - the cost will change accordingly.
Cost for this trip includes the shuttle back to the start when finished.
